It might not be the largest European city you’ve ever seen, but there are so many cozy spots for a brunch or breakfast in Varna! I’m sure you know where the word “brunch” comes from – it’s something in between breakfast and lunch. Or how I’d like to interpret it – having breakfast for lunch! 😁 It doesn’t matter if you’re visiting Varna during the peak of summer or during the winter months, you can always make your stay more enjoyable with a lazy brunch (or actual breakfast!). Here are the best places you can do so in Varna:
Table of Contents
1. Marchѐ
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00 – 17:00 (weekends)
I must admit that of all the brunch spots in Varna, Marchè is the place I’ve been going back to the most. It’s pretty amazing, especially during the summer – their summer garden is wonderful and the menu offers great variety. From eggs Benedict to delicious typical Bulgarian pastries, you’ll find options for every mood. Take look at their more popular options on their Facebook page.
2. Bacaro
Brunch menu schedule: 10:00 – 16:00 (weekends )
Bacaro is the cosiest restaurant in Varna for me. You really feel at home there. The food is at the level of a high-end restaurant abroad, maybe because the chef is not from Bulgaria, but he is very happy to live and work here. The restaurant is in the heart of Varna, seconds from the pedestrian promenade. It’s really convenient because right across the street from Bacaro there is a paid parking lot where you can leave your car and not worry about the blue parking zone. The brunch is really tempting, I, as always, love the sweet and couldn’t help but try the lovely fluffy American pancakes. Follow them on Facebook to see brunch and dinner updates!
3. Tigana 2
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00-17:00 (Saturday)
Tigana 2 (located at 35V Chataldzha boulevard) turned into one of my favorite brunch spots pretty quickly. You can expect omelette and amazing french toast from Easter bread (to the right in the photo). You can try their amazing “mekitsi” (on the left of the photo). If I have to be perfectly honest, they have some of the best mekitsi in Varna 💜 Another extremely positive point about this place is the prices – you can get a breakfast portion plus a drink for as little as 5-6 leva (2-3 EUR!), so you can definitely afford it more often. You can follow their Facebook page for more information.
4. 43.12 Coffee
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00 – 16:00 (every day)
Once you step into the super cozy atmosphere of 43.12 Coffee, I guarantee that you won’t call it “What was it?? Two-four-one-one coffee place?!” anymore 😁. During the past year, the place has become pretty popular and for a reason – their coffee is SO delicious that you won’t need to put any sugar in it at all, while their desserts are really yummy. You’ll meet friendly smiling faces behind the bar which will gladly help you pick the right thing to fill your empty stomach, especially when it comes to breakfast or brunch! You can follow their Facebook page if you’re often in Varna, so you’re up to date with their menu.
5. Kashtata na Vi (Vi’s House)
Brunch menu schedule: 12:00 – 16:00 (Saturday)
What’s a brunch without a classic English breakfast?? Well, Vi’s House will offer you some of the most delicious eggs & bacon, but also some delicious French toast. I’m sure that it’ll be quite hard for you to take your pick! Bear in mind that brunch here is only on Saturdays and you do have to go after 12:00. However, this late brunch is great for the yummness you need right before a nap. Here’s an example what you can expect from a Varna brunch at Kashata na Vi.
6. Martini Food and Cocktails
Brunch menu schedule: from 08:00 (weekdays) and 08:30 (weekends)
If you’ve reached this point of the post and you still haven’t rushed out for a brunch, well, now I’m sure that you’ll be totally starving and go put your shoes on right away. The smell of the freshly baked croissants and the delicious healthy brunch option at Martini’s will surely entice you enough! Here are some of their brunch options from their Facebook page.
7. Wholehearted Cafe
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00 – 16:30 (Monday to Friday) & 09:30 – 17:00 (weekends)
Another really cozy place for brunch and breakfast in Varna <3. The staff is great – everyone is extremely nice and the food is incredibly delicious. Just check out this Facebook post of theirs with eggs and French toast – they even include some veggies, which makes the breakfast not just tasty, but also healthy.
8. Park Cafe
Brunch menu schedule: 08:00 – 16:00 (Monday to Saturday) & 09:00 – 17:00 (Sunday)
Park Cafe is located on the top floor of the former Piccadilly Park (now Parkmart). The huge advantage here is that the view is over the greenery and you can even see a bit of the sea. It definitely has a calming effect and has long been my favourite spot even just for a morning or afternoon coffee with friends. Follow them on Facebook to see their tempting offerings.
9. Continental Rest & Bar
Brunch menu schedule: 11:00 – 16:00 (1 or 2 Saturdays per month)
You cannot try the spectacular brunch menu at Continental every weekend. But when they do offer it – oh, it’s SO worth it! You can check out an example of that menu here. Their “buhti” are delightful, and their french toast with Easter bread is amazing. You can follow the events on their Facebook page in order to catch the next brunch Saturday.
10. café LAVÉ
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00 – 16:30 (Tuesdays)
café LAVÉ is one of the newer secret places in Varna, where you can taste a really delicious brunch. Amazing classic eggs Benedict, and other surprises. Follow them on Facebook to see their specials.
11. Endorfino
Brunch menu schedule: from 07:30 (every day)
A delicious brunch at the heart of Varna? Yes, please! 💜 If you’re in the mood for a break from your diet or the diet of your girlfriend (because, let’s face it, all women are always on a diet), Endorfino is a great place to do so. It’s a true heaven for cakes and for your sweet tooth overall. Of course, they do have salty options, but I must admit that their cakes are what they’re best at. You can check out their many temptations on their Facebook page.
12. Social Teahouse
Brunch menu schedule: 10:00 – 15:00 (weekends)
The Social Teahouse is one of these amazing places – a place with a cause! This place gives a first job opportunity and mentor support to youngsters from foster homes or coming from a risky family environment. You’ll often see different events here – from travellers’ tales to art classes (drawing with wine!), so I highly recommend that you follow their Facebook page and visit the Social Teahouse often. Here’s an example of a lovely Varna brunch you can have on the weekends, and some of their most popular options include salty waffles with spinach and cheese. Yum!
13. Kramer Pastry (on Marin Drinov str.)
Brunch menu schedule: from 08:30 (every day)
I’m explicitly mentioning which Kramer is great for breakfast, since not all of their branches open up this early. It’s true that the cakes and sweets at Kramer are endless, but I do like their salty choices better! Their salty pancake cake is amazing but my very favorite are the sandwiches. Seriously, I haven’t tried better sandwiches in Varna (okay, maybe there is one option, but definitely not as popular), and I especially love it how they put a little tomato and cucumber on the side.
14. Brick Bar
Brunch menu schedule: 10:00 – 12:00 (every day)
If you’re visiting Varna for the first time, you probably haven’t heard about the BRICK bar at all. But it’s so, so popular among locals! They have different evening events every week – great music, mostly Bulgarian singers and perfect cocktails. However, few people know that you can visit this place in the morning after as well and have a brunch too. They have a separate brunch menu, so it’s worth exploring.
15. La Pastaria
Brunch menu schedule: 09:00 – 11:00 (Monday-Saturday)
La Pastaria is a great place for lunch and dinner (and they DO have the most delicious tiramisu you can try around here!). But their brunch is so amazing, especially their Bulgarian “mekitsi” – I even recommend that you order them with BOTH cheese and jam. Naturally, they do have different types of eggs, but something more unique about their Varna brunch menu are the drinks. They have a brunch menu on their website, but it’s only in Bulgarian, so you might want to use your phone’s image translation options.
Now, I’m going to be a little too honest here. If you go very early, say, at 09:05, you risk getting a few annoyed looks from the waiters… which can kinda ruin your perfect morning. In addition, they do nothing to protect the environment – they don’t reuse glass and they do not recycle. So please, try to avoid ordering takeaway from them.
16. Graffiti Cafe / Red Canape
Brunch menu schedule: from 07:00 (every day)
Hotel Graffit is one of the best hotels at the heart of Varna. Their evening restaurant – Red Canape, will leave you breathless (even though it’s quite pricey). Actually, Graffiti Cafe is the “day” version of their restaurant and it’s located on the upper floor from it. It’s not just the design of the space that is unique here – it’s the dishes as well! You might not find typical Bulgarian dishes, but their eggs are unforgettable. Sometimes you’ll find special brunch events at Red Canape as well – Easter is quite popular and they have “kozunak” and eggs – super typical for Eastern Europe.
17. SPA brunch: International Casino & Towers
Brunch menu schedule: 12:00 – 17:00
I won’t be saying much about the cuisine at International Hotel at the Golden Sands – I’m only going to say that we picked their restaurant for our wedding venue! 🙂 Their SPA is one of the best in the resort and no matter the season – their SPA brunch is a great way to have a relaxing afternoon. I highly advise you to check the offers on their website first (it’s usually about 40 BGN) and then call and book your slot. Naturally, there are a lot more people on the weekends, so try to visit during weekdays in order to fully enjoy the SPA.
18. Seasonal SPA brunch: Grand Flamingo – Albena resort
Brunch menu schedule: 11:30 – 16:00 (seasonal)
Grand Flamingo is the hotel in Albena that most impressed me with their cuisine a few years back. There was even honey you could collect from a honeycomb on their dinner buffet! I must admit that we totally skipped their SPA zone last time and I can’t compare it to the one at Paradise Blue in Albena, but their cuisine is surely perfect. Both hotels offer a SPA brunch option (during the summer season only) – you can follow the offers at Albena’s website over here.
19. BONUS: Where to try delicious cannoli in Varna
I don’t know about you guys, but the pandemic had me dreaming more and more about Italy and their delicious traditional cannoli! And by the way – they’re good for brunch too, aren’t they? 😁 Here are a few places in Varna where you can try really yummy Italian cannoli:
- Jasmin Coffee Roastery – not just cannoli and other delicious, delicious desserts and really great coffee!
- Sweet Parmy – it’s close to the Sea Garden’s entrance in the heart of Varna and offers a large variety of desserts
- Centro Italiano – if you’re a real fan of Italian cuisine, you absolutely must visit Centro Italiano. It’s a true hidden gem -not too popular around locals and pretty small on the inside, but the food is SO delicious that even the thought of it makes me want to call and order some pasta right now 💜
I must admit that for a very large portion of the information included in this post, I had to “sacrifice” my diet, eat lots of delicious stuff, but I also had to contact the restaurants in Varna directly to confirm the correct hours and days of the week for brunch. This post has not been sponsored by any of the places – each of them is a favorite of mine or has been highly recommended by a friend.
